MATS 2010: Travel advice
The conference site can be easily reached by public transport:
By plane
- If you fly into Brussels National Airport, you can take the Airport City Express, which leaves four times an hour from inside the airport building (floor –2) and takes you to one of the main railway stations in Brussels (subsequently Noord/Nord, Centraal/Central and Zuid/Midi). In Brussels you can switch to one of the many intercity trains (IC) to or via Gent Sint-Pieters, Ghent's main railway station. All trains with destinations Brugge, Knokke/Blankenberge or Oostende stop in Ghent. Some trains run directly from the airport to Gent Sint-Pieters.
- If you fly into Charleroi Airport (Brussels South), there is a bus service to the railway station Brussel Zuid (Bruxelles Midi). In Brussel Zuid, you can switch to one of the many intercity trains (IC) to or via Gent Sint-Pieters, Ghent's main railway station. All trains with destinations Brugge, Knokke/Blankenberge or Oostende stop in Ghent.
By train
- Ghent is on the crossroads of the international lines London - Brussels - Köln and Paris - Lille - Antwerp. Timetables can be found on the website of the national railway company NMBS.
In Ghent
- From the "Gent Sint-Pieters" railway station, it is a 10 minute walk to the conference site. Leaving the railway station from the main exit, cross the square (Maria-Hendrikaplein), and take the Koning-Albertlaan (on your left). After about 900 m., you cross a bridge; the conference site is the brown building on your right, indicating Hogeschool Gent (Abdisstraat 1, 9000 Gent). See location on google maps.
- Alternatively, you can take the tram. From the tram stop in front of the "Gent Sint-Pieters" railway station, you can take tram 4 (direction Moscou). Get off at the stop “Koning Albertbrug” (2nd stop) . At the corner of the lane, you will see the conference site, viz. a brown building, indicating Hogeschool Gent. (Abdisstraat 1, 9000 Gent).
